The Bellevue School District is committed to affirming and supporting all families and students. Staff ed by Family Engagement Specialists, their mission is to connect families with district and community support services, provide them with educational opportunities to better navigate the school system and help them become engaged in the education of their children.
During the ongoing COVID pandemic, Family Engagement Specialists are working diligently to provide families with essential resources such as food, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, school supplies, etc. It is the only housing program with 22 single family homes, 3 duplexes, and a 3-plex located in various neighborhoods in Des Moines that serves homeless families with children.
The goal is to provide as much normalcy as possible for the families we serve. Families stay in The Home Connection program for approximately two to four years.
