Forgotten battles patch

To me it was kinda obvious he was using the external padlock view on me, but oh well. His defense was bascially a bunch of jinking and rolls, nearly every time I had him in my crosshairs he jinked used the external padlock very well. I did get some hits on him and I was smart to conserve my ammo throughout the fight. By this time my engine was severely overheated and I would never would have been able to make it back to base.

He got the advantage on me after my missed ram, I avoided his bullets for a while unitl the engine decided it had enough and I sorta landed in a field. It definitely gave my arm a workout. Edit: Ok decided to do it tonight Yep, iko's right, it's the big island map. Cutting it back to 2 or 3 per field is much better, since it still gives enough coverage to keep enemy pilots from hanging out there, but isn't enough to lag everything down. As for timezones, maybe offset ET by a little bit either east or west, depending.

How about something like a hour offset? That way it could still be light on the map past midnight, and be dark in the early morning hours and light again by 11am or noon? Not required to play on or offline, but definitely a nice thing to have. Ehhh, after watching that track, I don't think that's what he was up to. Honestly it looked like he was warp cheating to me momentarily blocking some packets long enough to force some lag, but not long enough to disconnect you.

Notice how whenever you'd get close his plane would suddenly go all flippy and slew off in some random direction a bit and then start flying again, as if he had a laggy connection? Did you also notice that his connect became miraculously stable and warp free once he was on your tail?

It may have just been a coincidence, but I find about 8 minutes of coincidence a little hard to believe, especially when it all got clean again right as the situation turned to his advantage. Then again, I've seen you fly, I know how good you are, and I watched how much you were all over him in the fight, so I'm inclined to think something wasn't quite on the up and up with that rather than say "He was just good at dodging.

Man, I dont think I like this patch much. FB ran great for me at x with most settings on high, but now it seems to run slightly slower, especially in cockpit mode. Its playable, but not as smooth as it was before. Sound is also absolute crap, but so it was in FB too. I have an Sblive Value, and if I use 3d accel, the sound is so thick that when I fire my guns they cut out and I get stuttering noises in one channel.

If I turn off EAX, the sound doesnt crap out, but stereo is broken. I bank left, the engine noise cuts left more than right, instead of naturally fading like it should be. Thinking of downgrading this one A recommended step at IL2sturmovic.

The above improved my frame rate and most sound anomalies. Last night I had a quick dogfight with a veteran AI Bf, which ended with us both crashing into the ground as I was chasing him. I wanted to see if he just spontaneously crashed, or if I'd managed to damage him enough to cause him to crash, so I watched the replay.

At the start of the replay, everything seemed ok, but then my plane got behind him, and fired a burst that went nowhere near him. Then, when my plane was diving, trying to follow and shoot down a plane that doesn't seem to be there, the enemy plane got behind me, lined up his shot, and blasted me out of the sky! I'm certain it was no fluke; it was too long and too precise a burst for that. Two possibilities I can think of: 1 The computer AI is supposed to be active during replays, but with all random factors removed so it should always follow the same path.

The bug is that some random factor still exists, that can cause the AI to make a different decision. Anyway, I watched the replay again, and it worked fine that time. It's all very odd. So, is the server going up tonight? Any idea what time? It'll be late for me, but I'm sure I can keep my eyes open for a while Are you guys planning on getting a game together this weekend? If so when and where? Seems like every game I join has one guy who is really good dominating the map, all I get to do is struggle to gain altitude before he dives down and shreads me.

Anyway, is someone going to post here with the time and ip address when you play or are you coordinating some other way? Yeah ANY game with the F would be a god send. The whole move from props to jets and from guns to missles Server'll be up in an hour or so.

The documentation is weak on teaching strategy and tactics, often just telling players to practice. There are several functions for which there are no default keystrokes, and sometimes the defaults don't make sense. Forgotten Battles detected my joystick without problem, but in the Brewster Buffalo, button 2, not button 1, was the default gun button, leaving me surprised the first time in combat especially since the key reference says button 1 is the weapons button.

The padlock view, which aids a pilot in keeping his eyes on the target, took some valid criticisms for being unwieldy in IL-2 Sturmovik, and it hasn't changed here. Despite the presence of names and photos for squadron mates and active radio chatter, Forgotten Battles can't shake the simulation genre's chronic malady for a sterile ambiance during play.

Forgotten Battles has a few pockets of turbulence, but it is still the best recent flight simulation available, and a courageous effort. The superior graphics and flight modeling are unmatched, and game's many solitaire and multiplayer options give it long life on the hard drive. Forgotten Battles is like a cantankerous old warbird, tough on novices but rewarding for the skilled flier.

It took practice to develop proficiency with those old crates, and probably a lot of bravery too. Contact: , done in 0. Search a Classic Game:. Operation Market Garden is launched, hoping to penetrate directly into Germany via Arnhem in Holland. A glider from this operation is forced to crash land on Walcheren, leaving a handful of British troops trapped behind enemy lines.

Meanwhile a Dutch teenager accidentally kills three Germans, causing a tragic chain of events. On the German staff is a Dutch soldier who now starts to question where his loyalties lie. Three young people in the middle of a war. Their choices differ, their goal is the same: freedom.

Did you know Edit. Trivia Filming the battle scenes in the Netherlands turned out to be near-impossible due to all kinds of environmental issues certain wild animal populations that couldn't be disturbed, no permission for explosive effects, etc. Another problem was that modern windmills had been placed around the original site of the titular battle, and money spent on digitally removing them would be better spent on adding planes or destroyed villages.

The problem was solved by going to Lithuania, which offers tax benefits for movie productions. A piece of unused farmland was rented there from a farmer, who told production that they could do with it as they pleased. An entire dam was built there specifically for the battle scene. Interesting war drama. An interesting war drama. Covers a lesser-known campaign of WW2, the battles for the Scheldt Estuary and the Battle of Walcheren in particular and does so in reasonably entertaining and engaging fashion.

A decent enough plot, covering the battle from many sides, with some good action scenes and CGI. Nowadays it is not a question of who uses technology but how technology impacts the life of each and every person.
