During each year, students in the program will be enrolled in an AVID elective where research-based strategies and curriculum for academic success are taught through integration within this and other AVID courses. Students enrolled in the elective also receive additional academic support in the form of tutorials that are embedded in this class two days per week. AVID program students will attend at least eight college visits over their four year career, in an effort to expose all students to higher education opportunities.

The Majors Program at TOHS is a terrific way to connect to campus and peers while learning more about future career opportunities. Monthly lunchtime meetings feature guest speakers, teacher support, field trips, student projects, internships and more. These centers are open at lunch for students to drop in and receive help and support. Our WHS Academy is a California Partnership Academy and is based on the school-within-a-school model to help connect more of our students grades to curriculum that focuses on the career theme of IT and Multimedia.

Freshman and sophomore students can apply to the Academy during the second semester of each school year for acceptance the following year. The WHS Career Technical Education CTE Pathway Program gives students the opportunity to acquire the depth of knowledge and skills linked to specific post-secondary programs that will lead to a certification or a degree.

Each pathway consists of 2 or 3 sequential courses that support a specific career field. Pathway students also participate in Essential Career Connections such field trips, networking, job shadowing, competitions, special projects, resume building, interview practice, mentors, and internships.
